She said the overseas Vietnamese community serves as a vital bridge between Vietnam and the world while directly contributing to national development and defense.

Ms. Hang made the remarks at a conference in Hanoi on Friday to study and implement Resolution 23 on overseas Vietnamese affairs and Conclusion 49 on continuing the implementation of Directive 32 to strengthen and improve the effectiveness of the Party’s foreign relations in the new context.

Under Resolution 23, the diplomatic sector is tasked with creating mechanisms and favorable conditions for OVs to play a greater role in national integration, development, and defense.

The resolution also calls for building a global database, network, and ecosystem to connect overseas Vietnamese experts, intellectuals, scientists, entrepreneurs, artists, and young people.

Through Conclusion 49, the Politburo also called for the continued effective implementation of Directive 32 to improve the quality and effectiveness of the Party’s foreign relations amid increasingly complex regional and global developments. It also reaffirmed the need to maximize the contributions of the overseas Vietnamese community.

The 33rd Diplomatic Conference concluded on Friday after seven days of meetings.
