Russia's civil aviation authority has granted Nordwind Airlines permission to operate the flights twice a week. The transport ministry said in a statement that for now flights will operate once a month, until stable demand is built.

The start of regular flights follows the resumption of Moscow-Pyongyang passenger rail service in June.
