The Swiss delegation was welcomed at Noi Bai International Airport by Chairman of the Hanoi People’s Committee Vu Dai Thang and Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Le Thi Thu Hang.

Vietnamese Ambassador to Switzerland Chau Mai Anh said the visit is highly significant, as 2026 marks the 55th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Switzerland (October 11). Vietnam and Switzerland are implementing their Comprehensive Partnership framework established in January 2025.

Another major milestone is the expected signing of a free trade agreement in Hanoi between Vietnam and the European Free Trade Association (EFTA), which includes Switzerland, Norway, Iceland and Liechtenstein.

The FTA is a breakthrough in economic relations between Vietnam and EFTA members in general, and between Vietnam and Switzerland in particular. It is expected to facilitate greater investment, expanded cooperation, and more effective use of market potential by businesses from Vietnam and EFTA member states.
