“I’ve been invited to go to China, and I’ll be doing that sometime fairly early next year. We have it sort of set,” said Trump.
Trump expressed optimism about his upcoming visit to South Korea later this month to attend the APEC meeting, where he is expected to meet Chinese President Xi Jinping.
Trump’s remarks came as the US warned it might impose 100% tariffs on Chinese imports, starting November. He told reporters that the new tariffs would take effect on November 1 if Washington and Beijing failed to reach an agreement. However, he voiced optimism about the prospects for a deal, saying China had shown “great respect” toward the US.
Meanwhile, American corporations have urged the administration to ease certain export restrictions on China.
