More convenient visa policies are one of Vietnam’s major advantages. Since August 2023, Vietnam has extended e-visa eligibility to citizens of all countries and territories, including India, allowing stays of up to 90 days with multiple entries.
Improved air connectivity has also contributed to the growth in arrivals. Meanwhile, affordable travel costs and diverse experiences are other important attractions. In addition to well-known beaches in destinations such as Da Nang and Nha Trang, visitors can combine trips to Hanoi, Hue and Hoi An and explore cultural heritage sites in a single itinerary. This offers a more diverse experience than a beach-focused holiday.
Street-food tours, Vietnam’s coffee culture, historical heritage and the country’s growing presence on social media have also helped attract young travelers and first-time international tourists.
The number of Indian visitors to Vietnam rose from around 138,000 in 2022 to more than 500,000 in 2024, making India one of the fastest-growing source markets for Vietnam’s tourism industry.
