The two Ministers then held talks on regional and global developments and issues of mutual concern, including the East Sea issue.

Mr Giang said Vietnam wishes to maintain regular exchanges and consultations with Malaysia, strengthen practical cooperation between the two countries' maritime law enforcement forces, and uphold ASEAN’s stance that all disputes in the East Sea should be resolved peacefully in accordance with international law.

He expressed his hope that the two defence ministries would continue effectively implementing the common understandings reached by the two countries' senior leaders, as reflected in the Action Programme for implementing the Vietnam–Malaysia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.

The Malaysian Minister said he hopes the two sides will continue to advance defence cooperation in agreed areas, based on each country's needs and interests.

This will further strengthen the Vietnam–Malaysia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in a practical and effective manner and contribute to peace, stability, and prosperity in the region and the world.
