During a farewell meeting with US Ambassador Marc Knapper in Hanoi on Friday, the Prime Minister said economic and trade cooperation remains a central pillar of bilateral ties. He praised the ambassador’s role in expanding market access and encouraging US investment in Vietnam.

Mr. Chinh expressed confidence that both sides would soon conclude negotiations on a reciprocal, fair, and balanced trade agreement to create a stable business environment for enterprises in both countries.

Noting the special significance of cooperation in addressing war legacies, the Prime Minister praised Ambassador Knapper’s efforts and called for continued collaboration in this area to build trust and promote reconciliation.

Ambassador Knapper agreed on the need to expand cooperation in politics, security, defense, trade, energy, humanitarian affairs, science and technology, and high-quality workforce development.

He expressed confidence in the continued growth of Vietnam–US relations and pledged to remain a friend of Vietnam in any future role.
