Speaking at the ministry’s regular press briefing in Hanoi, Ms. Hang said: “At the high-level General Debate of the United Nations General Assembly, Party General Secretary and President To Lam will deliver an important speech. He will also hold meetings with leaders of countries, partners and international organizations, as well as leaders of the US administration and Congress.”

Since Vietnam joined the United Nations in 1977, Vietnam-UN relations have continued to deepen in a wide range of areas, from sustainable development and peacekeeping to international security and responses to global challenges.

Vietnam has actively proposed initiatives and made practical contributions to joint efforts, while taking on important responsibilities at key UN bodies and forums, earning international recognition. Vietnam is also continuing to seek membership and important positions in UN mechanisms.
