(VOVWORLD) - Chao Thi Yen of the Dao Tuyen ethnic minority in Lao Cai province in northwest Vietnam, has become the first woman from her community to earn a master’s degree abroad, helped by a full scholarship from the European Union. Yen is an inspiration not just to other Dao young people but also to many other ethnic minority people.

(VOVWORLD) - Lieutenant Colonel Do Thi Hang Nga was Vietnam’s first female officer to join the UN peacekeeping mission in South Sudan. At the end of her term, she was awarded the United Nations Medal for her “outstanding, truly exceptional, and rare performance.”

(VOVWORLD) - Luong Huu Hai has taught at Nguyen Truong To Middle School in the Central Highlands province of Dak Lak for more than 20 years. He has provided many ethnic minority children with free lodging, clothes, books, and bicycles, and helped many disadvantaged children attend school.

(VOVWORLD) - Taking out a phone from her bag, Trang Tho Phe, a technology teacher from the Ha Nhi ethnic minority group in Bat Xat district, Lao Cai province, immediately captures the attention of the whole class. Tho Phe’s use of virtual reality (VR) has made technology easy to understand for her high school students.

(VOVWORLD) - Buddhist nun Thich Nu Lien Tam of Buu Tam pagoda in the Mekong Delta province of Soc Trang, is active in charity work. During the COVID-19 pandemic, she has worked with local authorities to deliver free meals to people in quarantine.

(VOVWORLD) - Vu Huu Le, a company director in the northern province of Yen Bai, was one of 6 individuals honored at the Vietnam Glory Program 2021 for his excellent achievements in production. Le is known for his research and design of machines and equipment for agricultural and forestry production.
