(VOVWORLD) - The family of artisan Pham Khac Ha of Van Phuc village in Hanoi, has been involved in silk weaving for 5 generations. Ha himself has been instrumented in reviving a silk craft which was once thought to be dying out.

(VOVWORLD) - Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thi Lan, director of the Vietnam University of Agriculture, received the 2018 Kovalevskaya Award for her research and contributions to veterinary medicine. She is the youngest recipient of the award, which honors outstanding female scientists.

(VOVWORLD) - Pianist Trang Trinh was named by Forbes magazine one of the 30 most prominent Vietnamese under the age of 30 in 2015. Trinh has won a number of international music awards and is active in social work.

(VOVWORLD) - Despite fierce seas and danger, 25-year-old fisherman Tran Thanh Ron of Quang Ngai province, rushed out to sea to save crew members of a fishing boat which was sunk by strong waves in the vicinity of Hoang Sa (Paracel) archipelago in 2017. Ron was awarded the President’s Order of Bravery.

(VOVWORLD) - Agronomist Pham Han Hanh of Mai Son district, Son La province, was one of 53 scientists honored last year for their contributions to the agricultural sector. Hanh has helped many farmers in Vietnam’s northwestern mountains improve their production with his innitiatives and new techniques.

(VOVWORLD) - Sa Pa town in Lao Cai province is beginning to grow more medicinal plants particularly artichokes. Its new interest in medicinal herbs was awakened by Do Tien Sy, the director the Traphaco Joint Stock Company which produces natural healthcare products.

(VOVWORLD) - Dr. Nguyen Hong Thao has been elected as the Second Vice Chairman of the United Nations International Law Commission (ILC). It’s an honour not only for Dr. Thao but also for Vietnam who has increased presence in global organizations.

(VOVWORLD) - Beauty queen H’Hen Nie was born and raised in an Ede ethnic minority family in Sut M'Dung village, the Central Highland province of Dak Lak. By winning the crown of Miss Universe Vietnam 2017, she became the pride of the Ede people and her homeland. H’Hen Nie has returned to her native village several times to perform charity work, wanting to make a meaningful contribution to her community.

(VOVWORLD) - Farmer Ly Quon from My Xuyen district, Soc Trang province is known as a role model in agricultural production and application of science and farming techniques.

(VOVWORLD) - Teacher Bui Van Binh of Kim Truy commune, Hoa Binh province, was paralyzed when he was little. His father died early leaving Binh and his sibling in difficulties. Despite his disability, for more than 10 years Binh has provided free classes to poor children in his locality.
