(VOVworld) - The Experts’ Working Group on Humanitarian Mine Action of the ASEAN Defense Ministers’ Meeting Plus (ADMM+) will convene their fourth conference in Hanoi on Thursday, the Defense Ministry told the media on Tuesday.

The conference, co-hosted by the Vietnamese and Indian Defense Ministries will review the group’s activities for 2014-2017, discuss tasks for 2017-2020, and transfer the title of co-Chair to Laos and Russia for the 2017-2020 tenure.
The group was created by the seventh ADMM+ in 2013 and tasked with promoting cooperation among member countries in dealing with bombs, mines, and explosives left over from the war. Ministers named Vietnam and India the first co-chairs for 2014-2017.
On this occasion, the headquarters of the Vietnam National Mine Action Centre will be inaugurated. A development partners’ meeting will also be held, at which a map of areas suspected to be contaminated by bombs and mines will debut.
