The Hanoi People's Committee on Monday issued an official telegram on the suspension of non-essential activities. From 5 pm on Monday, Hanoi will temporarily close relic sites and religious establishments and suspend operation of street restaurants, cafes, and sidewalk tea and coffee stalls until a new direction is issued. Indoor restaurants are required to perform cleaning and disinfection, make a minimum distance of 1 meter between people or install a shield between sitting positions, not to use shared items, and encourage take-away.

Everyone returning Hanoi after the Reunification Day and May Day holiday is requested to fill in the health declaration.

On Sunday, Vice Chairman of the Hanoi municipal People’s Committee Chu Xuan Dung inspected Vien Dong Star apartment in Hoang Mai district, the residential place of a confirmed patient who works for Sunny Club, a COVID hotspot.
Hanoi's neighboring province of Vinh Phuc announced on Sunday that the Phuc Yen General Hospital is zoned off until May 16th for its proximity to Sunny Club. Schools are closed.

On Monday, the Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control in Ho Chi Minh City held an emergency meeting and decided to suspend the operations of massage and sauna parlors, theaters, cinemas, and electronic games establishments from 6pm on Monday.

Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Chairman Nguyen Thanh Phong has requested that all people who left the city during the holidays from April 30 to May 3 must make medical declarations at the place of study and work. Individuals who do not make medical declarations or make untruthful reports will be strictly punished. Ho Chi Minh City already suspended operations of karaoke parlors, bars, and disco clubs starting 6pm on Friday.
