Deputy Prime Minister Vuong Dinh Hue recapped the socio-economic developments from 2016 to this year and the coordination between the government and the VFF Central Committee.
He said Vietnam’s average GDP over the past 5 years is estimated to have appreciated 6.78%. The current forex reserve is 70 billion USD, the highest level in the history. During this period, the startup spirit has spread widely. By the end of last year, 735,000 companies in operation have made tax payments twice as much as in previous term.
Mr. Hue said the coordination between the government and the VFF has helped the government implement socio-economic development plans efficiently. In the time to come, Mr. Hue said he hopes the Front will continue to accompany the government in communications to create social consensus in realizing the state’s policies.
Regarding foreign relations, Deputy PM Hue said: “It’s necessary to develop foreign relations activities in combination with the Party’s diplomatic programs to update international friends on Vietnamese development in all fields, especially in regards to Vietnamese rights and sovereignty, environmental protection, climate change response, and ensuring human rights and the freedom of religion. The efforts will increase the understanding and building of trust, friendship and cooperation with other governments and peoples.”
Tran Thanh Man, who is re-elected President of the VFF, said: “We are well aware that this is a great honor but also a heavy responsibility the Congress has entrusted us with. We’ll inherit the experience of previous terms to implement the state’s policies efficiently and ensure the highest solidarity. We are determined to realize the targets and missions set by the Congress.”
