A workshop on preparations for APEC Year 2027 opened in Hanoi today, bringing together representatives from ministries, agencies, localities and the APEC Secretariat. The two-day event focuses on event management, inter-agency coordination and ways to showcase Vietnam’s local strengths to international delegates.

Permanent Deputy Foreign Minister Nguyen Minh Vu said: “We have worked very closely with the APEC Secretariat and APEC members. They expect Vietnam to once again demonstrate its leadership role. They also regard Vietnam as an influential APEC member and one of the few members to have hosted APEC three times. With careful preparation, strong determination and close cooperation among APEC members, we are confident that Vietnam will ensure a successful APEC Year.”

At the workshop, US Deputy Ambassador to Vietnam Courtney Beale and APEC Executive Director Eduardo Pedrosa affirmed their continued cooperation with Vietnam, including sharing experience and supporting efforts to strengthen organizational capacity. APEC Year 2027 will mark Vietnam’s third time hosting APEC, following 2006 and 2017.
