The festival is an occasion for local people to pray for safe voyages and abundant catches.
During the 5-day festival, people attended incense-offering ceremonies at the Rung Sac Martyrs’ Cemetery and the Rung Sac Martyrs’ Temple. A procession was held on September 26 to welcome the Whale God from the sea to the Whale God Mausoleum.
The festival also featured a photo exhibition of the previous festivals, a range of seafood and local specialties, and a trade fair.
Traditional folk performances, including classical Vietnamese opera, southern amateur music, water puppetry and street circus acts, were staged throughout the festival.
