Vinh Long currently has more than 7,500 hectares of high-tech shrimp farming, with an average output of about 70 tonnes per hectare. The sector supplies nearly 200,000 tonnes of commercial shrimp to the market each year. The province aims to expand super-intensive shrimp farming to 10,000 hectares by 2030 and develop large-scale concentrated farming areas of 200 to 500 hectares in coastal localities.

To promote sustainable fisheries development, Vinh Long is prioritizing investment in the processing and preservation of agricultural and aquatic products. Under its new policy, businesses may receive support covering 30% of construction or equipment costs, up to 76,000 USD, for each facility.

The province has also proposed that the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment invest in a centre for seafood testing and quality inspection.

“We are introducing policies and investment lists to attract investment in processing in the fisheries sector. We are committed to doing our utmost to support investors,” said Chau Van Hoa, Vice Chairman of the Vinh Long Provincial People's Committee.
