(VOVWORLD) - Raising dairy cows has long been the economic mainstay of many families in the Mekong Delta province of Soc Trang, particularly among the Khmer ethnic minority. Dairy cow farming is a major reason more Soc Trang people chose to stay in their rural areas instead of migrating to the urban areas.

(VOVWORLD) - ‘Ba khia’ (three-striped salted crab) is one of the many specialties of Ca Mau province. The traditional craft of making salted fermented ba khia has been recognized as a national intangible cultural heritage. Rach Goc town in Ngoc Hien district is the place that makes the product known far and wide.

Their thousands of hectares of rice, have long made them the rice bowl of the Central Highlands. It’s harvest time and this year the local farmers are feeling good because they have a bumper crop and good prices.

(VOVWORLD) - Tan Cuong tea, a specialty and famous brand of Thai Nguyen province, has been popular for years. Beautiful hills and terrain sloping from high mountains to lower elevations also make the Tan Cuong tea growing area an eco-tourism destination that attracts large numbers of tourists.

(VOVWORLD) - Ha Giang has 370 cooperatives with more than 8,900 members and 41 traditional craft villages involving 3,000 households, with each worker earning about 170 USD a month. The model of cooperatives and craft villages is helping locals reduce poverty.

(VOVWORLD) - Nghi Xuan district in Ha Tinh province plans to build new-style rural areas based on combining traditional culture and tourism development. Under the plan, the great Vietnamese poet Nguyen Du’s “The Tale of Kieu,” a masterpiece of Vietnamese classical epic poetry, will serve as a model for instilling beautiful values in new-style rural communities.

(VOVWORLD) - We visited Co Dua hamlet in Song Ma district, Son La province, on a sunny day in late April. Although it wasn’t too hard to get there, as it would have been on a rainy day, our minivan still skidded three times on the bumpy, rocky bends. Tong Van Viet, Secretary of Muong Sai commune’s Party Committee, said if the new road is completed next month, it will take much less time to drive the 10 kilometers to Co Dua hamlet.
