(VOVWORLD) - In the past few years, the One Commune One Product (OCOP) program has turned many local products from Mekong Delta provinces into products that are well known and respected in other markets. The region’s OCOP products have raised the living standard of local farmers and boosted the local economy.

(VOVWORLD) - The Mekong Delta province of Soc Trang has protected its winter-spring crops from saltwater intrusion and drought by taking preventive measures. Since the end of last year, much investment has been made in constructing works and increase the storage of fresh water. Authorities have advised farmers to grow rice as instructed by the agricultural sector to mitigate the impacts of saltwater intrusion and drought in this year’s dry season.

(VOVWORLD) - Ca Mau, Vietnam’s southernmost province and one of four key economic centers in the Mekong Delta, has a 54-kilometer coastline and two ecosystems of mangrove and cajeput forests recognized by UNESCO as a World Biosphere Reserve. With favorable natural conditions for tourism development, many community-based ecotourism models have been launched and are thriving.

(VOVWORLD) - For generations, farmers in Ca Mau province have been using mangrove trees to make firewood. Mangrove wood is usually used to create household utensils and fine arts of high value.

(VOVWORLD) - Hai Duong is one of major farm produce hubs of the Red River Delta. Since it became a COVID-19 hotbed, with travel restriction in place, the circulation of agricultural products has been seriously affected. The provincial Department of Industry and Trade has worked out a plan for agricultural logistics based on ensuring epidemic prevention and control from harvesting to distribution.

(VOVWORLD) - Female members of Tong Bong Brocade Weaving Cooperative in Buon Ma Thuot City, Dak Lak Province, have begun a new production season following the Lunar New Year. They are diligently making new items to meet the signed contracts and, at the same time, preserving the traditional craft of brocade weaving.

(VOVWORLD) - Approved in May 2018, the One Commune-One Product program (OCOP) aims to develop rural economies to help realize the national goal of building new-style rural areas. Soc Trang is one of the provinces with the most OCOP products in the Mekong Delta region. The goods have been introduced nationwide, thus enhancing the production, trading, and competitiveness of local enterprises.

(VOVWORLD) - Dak Ro Wa commune in Kon Tum province, home to Ba Na ethnic people, has greatly changed after 10 years of applying Vietnam’s new-style rural development program. Most of the local roads have been paved. Medical stations, schools, village halls, markets, private homes, stilt houses, and communal houses have been renovated or repaired. Vast hills of coffee, litsea, maize, cassava, and acacia trees are under cultivation.

(VOVWORLD) - As farming is doing ‘toil and moil’ work all year round for a long time, many farmers want their children to get a university education escape from the paddy fields, and maybe make a fortune. But recently in a reverse trend, young people are choosing to start up a business in agriculture and many have developed successful models.

(VOVWORLD) - Gardeners growing peaches in Nhat Tan village and kumquat trees in Tu Lien village in Hanoi's Tay Ho district are busy preparing thousands of peach blossom trees and kumquat pots for the Tet (Lunar New Year) market.
