(VOVWORLD) - Known as a musical art that has both scholarly and folk roots, Don Ca Tai Tu (amateur singing) developed in southern Vietnam in the late 19th century.

(VOVWORLD) - Like the epics of other ethnic groups in Vietnam’s Central Highlands, the epics of the Xo Dang people provide a view of a certain historical period, depicting people’s daily lives and their struggle to protect their land and communities.

(VOVWORLD) - The epics of the Xo Dang ethnic group’s T’dra branch, also known as ho mu’uan, were first discovered in the early 2000s by Vo Quang Trong, Director of Vietnam Museum of Ethnology. Dr. Trong and his colleagues have collected 106 versions of epic narratives in Kon Tum province’s Dac Ha and Dac To districts.

(VOVWORLD) - The Ede people’s Khan, the M’nong group’s Ot ndrong, and the Ba Na people’s Ho Mon are the first that come to mind when discussing epics of Vietnam’s Central Highlands. People are less familiar with the Xo dang group’s epics.

(VOVWORLD) - It has been three decades since that fateful day in 1988 when Vietnam’s literary scene was robbed of two most beloved talents by a tragic accident. The deaths of Luu Quang Vu and Xuan Quynh was something of a national tragedy, but their legacy lives on in their body of literary work.

(VOVWORLD) - Book festivals, exhibitions and promotion events have been held regularly across Vietnam every 3 to 4 months over the past 4 years. Such activities have contributed significantly to connecting readers and promoting the reading culture among Vietnamese.

(VOVWORLD) - Vietnamese music is incredibly diverse thanks to the existence of dozens of ethnic minorities. Authorities at all levels are doing their best to promote ethnic minority musical genres, to prevent them from falling into oblivion.

(VOVWORLD) - More efforts are needed to enhance preservation of Vietnam’s national heritages, said Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc at a recent meeting in Hanoi. He urged authorities at all levels to upgrade the legal framework and to define each agency’s responsibilities in supervising and protecting national treasures.

(VOVWORLD) - The British Council, in partnership with the Vietnam National Institute of Culture and Art Studies (VICAS), has launched its Cultural and Creative Hubs Vietnam project in several major cities in Vietnam. The EU-funded project, which runs between 2018 and 2021, offers support to organizations and practitioners in the fields of arts, culture, and creativity.

(VOVWORLD) - Hai Phong has done its best to restore and promote the art of ca tru or ceremonial singing over the years. This is reflected in the successful revitalization of the Hai Phong Ca Tru Guild after 25 years, with beautiful performances, young female vocalists, instrumentalists and musicians.
