(VOVWORLD) - Vietnam’s northern midland province of Phu Tho is home to two UNESCO recognized intangible cultural heritages of humanity: Hung Kings worshiping and Xoan singing. The province is taking drastic measures to better preserve and promote its local heritages.

(VOVWORLD) - Talented artists across Vietnam recently staged a play to celebrate 100 years of Cai Luong or Vietnamese reformed opera. The 150-minute play, Thay Ba Doi (Teacher Ba Doi), portrays the career of famous musician Nguyen Quang Dai, a guru of Cai Luong. Scripted by VOV President Nguyen The Ky, the play gives the audience an insight into the history of Vietnam’s Cai Luong.

(VOVWORLD) - “Then” singing is an indispensable practice in the cultural and religious life of Tay, Nung, and Thai ethnic minority communities in Vietnam’s northern mountainous provinces. Much effort has been put in preserving and promoting the folk art of Then singing across the region.

(VOVWORLD) - Bai choi singing of central Vietnam was officially recognized as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO in late 2017. The recognition acknowledges local efforts to preserve and promote the art form.

(VOVWORLD) - Hue Festival 2018 which concluded last week served as a rendezvous of culture and art from all over the world. In addition to colorful performances by foreign art troupes, the festival featured many shows about the unique culture of the former imperial city of Hue.

(VOVWORLD) - Dien Bien recently had two more heritages added to the list of national intangible cultural heritages. They are the Bun huot nam (water splashing festival) of the Lao ethnic minority people in Nua Ngam commune, Dien Bien district, and the art of making patterns on the traditional costumes of Mong Lengs, a branch of the Mong ethnic minority group in Sa Long commune, Muong Cha district.

(VOVWORLD) - The worship of the Hung Kings has been practiced in Vietnam for thousands of years to commemorate the founders of Vietnam’s first Kingdom Van Lang. It’s still an important ritual in Vietnam’s cultural life, reminding Vietnamese people of their roots and consolidating unity for national construction.
