(VOVWORLD) - The first national festival of Dao culture was held in Tuyen Quang city last week. Its aim was to preserve and promote Dao traditions and customs.

(VOVWORLD) - Dak Lak museum attracts 300,000 visitors a year, all coming to see the historical and cultural exhibits of Dak Lak province and the Central Highlands as a whole. There, artisans are also demonstrating their traditional handicraft and introducing their products as a way to promote the province’s ethnic cultures.

(VOVWORLD) - Revolutionary songs are often played on medial channels during Vietnam’s major events. The music genre, which began soon after the 1945 August Revolution and advocated Vietnamese people’s staunch spirit during wars, is much loved by the public.

(VOVWORLD) - Literature on Hue royal architecture was honored as a world documentary heritage, the third of the Nguyen dynasty which ruled Vietnam between 1802 and 1945. The poems highlight the authors’ pride of Vietnam’s traditions and beautiful scenery.

(VOVWORLD) - Hanoians have been enticed by famous “Cheo” (traditional Vietnamese opera) performances every Saturday night since June. These performances, sometimes including “Chau van” - a highly rhythmic form of singing that often accompanies “Hau dong” (mediumship) rituals – are staged by the Hanoi Cheo Theater at the Dai Nam Theater, No.89 Hue street, to rebuild public interest in this traditional art genre.

(VOVWORLD) - 2009 was the first year Vietnamese circus artists performed abroad. Since then a number of circus troupes have gone overseas to promote Vietnamese circus to the world.

(VOVWORLD) - Tien Yen district, in the heart of northeastern Quang Ninh province, is close by Ha Long Bay, the Mong Cai border gate economic zone, and the Van Don economic zone. Tien Yen is home to several ethnic minority groups whose cultural identities have passed down the generations.

(VOVWORLD) - “War Letters”, an outstanding book by Colonel Dang Vuong Hung, was honored during the 70th anniversary of War Invalids and Martyrs Day on July 27. The book was written to demonstrate the Vietnamese people’s aspiration for peace and teach the younger generation about patriotism.

(VOVWORLD) - The Hanoi-based Vincom Center for Contemporary Art (VCCA) opened in June this year. The nonprofit center, fully funded by Vingroup, is designed to help develop Vietnam’s contemporary art by gathering in artists and organizations. What makes VCCA unique is that this is an underground display space but still overwhelmed with natural light.

(VOVWORLD) - In the previous Culture segment, VOV spotlighted Sol Art - a children’s ensemble that has won fame for Vietnamese’ choral art on the international arena. The development of chorus in Vietnam is attributed to Sol Art centre and Vinschool primary school, which are teaching choral music to children.
