Ticket sales were also launched early and the number of railcars in service has been increased by 7% compared to the same period last year, according to the Vietnam Railways Corporation (VNR).

Around 257,000 tickets have been sold as of January 26. Tickets for peak travel season (February 7-14) from Ho Chi Minh City to some short-distance stops like Phan Thiet and Nha Trang are still available for purchase. Many trains still have seats available for trips after the holiday season, from February 24 to March 10, but tickets for peak days have been sold out.

The railway sector has deployed more staffs at train stations and will provide more railcars and train rides should demand increase. More than 150 railcars have been refurbished and upgraded for premium trains.

Nguyen Anh Tuan, an official from the Hanoi branch of the Railway Transport Joint Stock Company, said, “Our professionally trained attendants will ensure the best possible service during this peak travel season. We will have sweets on trains that run during the Lunar New Year's Eve for our passengers to enjoy before arriving home".
