Speaking about the Party leader’s recent visits to Laos and Cambodia, Mr. Trung said Mr. Lam’s visit to Laos on February 2nd reflected Vietnam’s special regard and top priority for the great friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos.
The visit deepened and concretized the new framework of “strategic connectivity” between the two countries, established last December.
Both sides agreed to work closely to effectively implement the signed agreements, with political cooperation continuing to play a guiding and leading role; defense and security cooperation serving as a key pillar for peace and stability; and economic cooperation identified as an area requiring clear breakthroughs, closely linked with infrastructure connectivity, trade, investment and human resource development.

The two countries will continue close coordination within regional cooperation mechanisms, particularly ASEAN and the Mekong Sub-Region frameworks.
As for General Secretary To Lam’s State visit to Cambodia on February 6, Minister Le Hoai Trung said the two sides agreed to leverage their complementary strengths to enhance bilateral and regional economic connectivity, especially in strategic infrastructure, supply chain connectivity, agriculture and agro-processing, energy and logistics.

They also agreed to promote border economic cooperation, facilitating the flow of goods, services and investment between the two economies. Both sides outlined a range of measures to further improve the investment and business environment, boost bilateral trade to 20 billion USD by 2030, and ensure strong, sustainable growth.
Notably, defense and security were reaffirmed as a solid pillar of bilateral relations, with a shared determination to maintain a peaceful, friendly border of cooperation and development, strengthen cooperation between the two armed forces, including capacity building, and step up efforts to combat transnational crime, particularly online fraud and drug trafficking.
In particular, agreements reached at the high-level meeting among the three Parties of Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos set out key orientations for future cooperation including establishing and developing trilateral connectivity in the economy, science and technology, transport, energy, agriculture, high technology, as well as strengthening people-to-people ties among the three countries.
