(VOVWORLD) - Vietnam always attaches importance to and wishes to strengthen its traditional friendship and comprehensive cooperation with the Czech Republic, Vietnam’s first strategic partner in Central and Eastern Europe, said President Luong Cuong.

At a reception in Hanoi on Tuesday for outgoing Czech Ambassador Hynek Kmonicek, President Cuong suggested the two sides continue promoting delegation and people-to-people exchanges to reinforce political trust and mutual understanding.
He stressed that bilateral cooperation in defence, security, education, science, technology, culture and tourism has seen dynamic and encouraging development.
Mr. Cuong proposed that the Czech Republic facilitate visa issuance for Vietnamese citizens and that airlines of the two countries consider opening direct air routes.
Ambassador Kmonicek affirmed that the new Czech Government continues to regard Vietnam as a very important partner in Asia and will facilitate Vietnamese workers to re-enter the Czech labour market.
