Vietnam, Czech Republic aim to enhance cooperation in multiple areas

(VOVWORLD) - President Luong Cuong has urged Vietnam and the Czech Republic to enhance cooperation in economics, trade, investment, defense and security, science and technology, education and training, as well as culture, tourism, and people-to-people exchanges to enhance mutual understanding.

At a meeting in Hanoi on Thursday with Mr. Milos Vystrcil, President of the Senate of the Czech Republic, who is on an official visit to Vietnam, the Vietnamese President encouraged both sides to expand into new areas where they can complement and support each other.

Mr. Cuong called on both sides to step up exchanges and delegation visits at all levels and through various channels in order to strengthen political trust.

The Vietnamese President asked the Czech Republic to work with other EU member states to expedite the remaining approvals of the EU–Vietnam Investment Protection Agreement (EVIPA), and to support the European Commission in removing the IUU yellow card on Vietnamese seafood exports.

Czech Senate President Milos Vystrcil affirmed that the legislative bodies of both countries will work closely to implement high-level agreements and assist the two governments in advancing bilateral cooperation across all fields.

On this occasion, President Milos Vystrcil informed President Luong Cuong that the Czech Republic will provide humanitarian aid worth more than 130,000 USD through the Vietnam Red Cross to support residents in central Vietnam affected by recent storms and floods, expressing hope that Vietnam will soon overcome the difficulties and recover from the damage caused by natural disasters.
