He made the statement on Friday while receiving New Zealand’s top legislator, who is on an official visit to Vietnam until Sunday.

President Cuong noted that the trip is especially meaningful as it coincides with the 50th anniversary of diplomatic ties (1975–2025) and Vietnam’s 80th National Day.

He stressed that the upgrade of bilateral ties to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in February this year opened up a new stage of cooperation, making the collaboration deeper and more comprehensive, bilaterally and multilaterally.

Speaker Brownlee praised Vietnam’s strong development over the past 80 years, and its growing role and position at regional and international forums.

He highly valued the contributions of the Vietnamese community in New Zealand and pledged to continue creating favorable conditions for them.

The two leaders agreed to further strengthen political trust, enhance exchanges at all levels, and deepen cooperation in defense and security.

They also concurred on maintaining close coordination and mutual support at multilateral forums, particularly the United Nations.
