General Secretary To Lam called for increased exchanges of delegations at all levels and across the Party, Government, Parliamentary, people-to-people, and business channels to enhance mutual understanding.
He stressed that the Vietnamese and New Zealand economies are highly complementary, with great potential for stronger cooperation. In the context of global economic and trade fluctuations, the two countries should boost economic, trade, and investment ties, facilitate market access for each other’s key products, and work closely to raise two-way trade to 3 billion USD.

He also asked New Zealand to continue creating favorable conditions for the Vietnamese community living, studying, and working there, encouraging them to contribute to New Zealand’s socio-economic development as well as to bilateral relations.
Speaker Gerry Brownlee affirmed that New Zealand attaches importance to Vietnam’s central role in Southeast Asia and regards Vietnam as a close and important partner in the region. He said the two countries share many commonalities, particularly the approach of linking economic growth with social and human development, affirming that New Zealand’s Parliament will further contribute to deepening the friendship between the two peoples and advancing cooperation in all fields.
