(VOVWORLD) - Party General Secretary To Lam on Thursday met with Lao Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone during his State visit to Laos.

The two leaders agreed on future directions for cooperation across various fields, stressing the need to urgently and effectively concretize and implement cooperation agreements between the two Parties and Governments, while creating more favorable conditions for businesses of both countries to invest and operate on a long-term basis in each other’s markets.
The two sides agreed to closely coordinate in developing plans and successfully organizing major commemorative events, particularly the 65th anniversary of the diplomatic relations and the 50th anniversary of the signing of the Treaty of Amity in 2027.
They also agreed to further enhance information sharing, strengthen close coordination, and continue to support each other at international and regional forums and sub-regional mechanisms. Both sides reaffirmed the importance of strengthening ASEAN unity, upholding ASEAN’s central role, and maintaining a common ASEAN voice on key strategic issues in the region.

The same day, Party General Secretary To Lam met with Lao National Assembly President Saysomphone Phomvihane.
During the meeting, the two sides agreed to strengthen oversight of the effective implementation of bilateral agreements, maintain regular high-level exchanges, including visits between the leaders of the two National Assemblies and their respective committees, and continue to expand and enhance cooperation in such areas as economy and trade, security and defense, people-to-people exchanges, and cooperation between localities.
They also agreed to continue close coordination and mutual support at regional and international parliamentary forums, while enhancing consultations and coordination on international and regional issues of shared concern.
