Here are a series of images showing local Hanoians wrapping and boiling Banh Chung cakes overnight on the last few days of the lunar year.
This year represents the eighth year that 60-year-old Son of Khuong Dinh street has made Banh Chung for his family, relatives, and neighbours.
It is normal for local people to spend approximately 12 hours boiling Banh Chung.
Mr. Hai, 50, of Vu Tong Phan street begins to boil the cake from 6pm on January 20 to 6am on January 21.
Amid a traditional setting, the process of making Banh Chung is an important occasion for all members of a Vietnamese family to gather together and join in.
Banh Chung remains an irreplaceable dish that local people place on the altars of their ancestors for Tet. This remains as evidence to show the loyalty and great gratitude that Vietnamese people have for their ancestors.
