This theme highlights the importance of making transport solutions inclusive, accessible, and affordable for everyone, regardless of income, gender, or physical ability. The goal is to promote sustainable transport that meets everyone’s needs.

Vehicles authorized to ride in Brussels during this day had to respect the maximal speed of 30 kilometers per hour. The whole Brussels Region was closed to traffic from 9:30 am till 7 pm.

The “Car-Free Sunday” event has been associated with Brussels for more than 25 years, beginning in just three districts: Schaerbeek, Watermael-Boitsfort, and Evere.

Camille Thiry, spokesperson for Brussels Mobility, said the “car-free day” has become a beautiful tradition of the city. A study published in 2023 showed that over the past decade, Brussels residents have become less dependent on cars and are walking more.
