According to Qatar’s statement, the follow-up meetings will be held "to ensure the sustainability of the ceasefire and verify its implementation in a reliable and sustainable manner".
The first round of peace talks between Pakistan and Afghanistan on Saturday, mediated by Qatar and Turkey, took place a couple of hours after the two South Asian neighbors extended a ceasefire following a week of fierce border clashes that killed dozens and wounded hundreds of others.
The talks were led by Pakistan’s Defense Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif and his Afghan counterpart, Mullah Muhammad Yaqoob.
