The event was jointly organized by the Vietnam Cinema Department of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Culture and Sports.
Ho Chi Minh City was chosen to host the opening ceremony for the southern region because of its role as Vietnam's leading economic, cultural, and cinematic hub. The city was recognized as a UNESCO Creative City of Film under the UNESCO Creative Cities Network.
The opening ceremony featured a screening of “Mua do (Red Rain)”, followed by a discussion with members of the film's production team.
“Red Rain” has received the Golden Lotus Award at last year’s Vietnam Film Festival, the Golden Kite Award in 2025, and the Red Star Award this year for Best Vietnamese Film at the Da Nang Asian Film Festival.
