High on the agenda were the current situation and opportunities ahead for Vietnam's nuclear program; how to develop a suitable human resource; small modular reactor (SMR); and how to increase nuclear power plants' lifespan and ensure safe operations. Participants also discussed mobilizing overseas Vietnamese experts to help Vietnam with its nuclear program.
They suggested that Vietnam complete its institutional framework, conduct trainings, develop a nuclear safety culture, select the right technologies, improve project management capacity, and strengthen cooperation between regulators, research institutes, universities, businesses, and international experts.
At the event, VietNuc's Chairman Bui Nguyen Hoang said the organization wishes to share case studies of nuclear power plants around the world and help Vietnam successfully and safely implement its nuclear program.
