Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh delivered a speech via video during the opening session, congratulating the conference and delivering three messages.

First, the Prime Minister emphasized that the world is living in a turning point in history, requiring people to change their mindset, way of thinking, and way of doing things, to think deeply and do bigger things. He stressed the need to put people at the center, as the player, as the resource, as the driving force, and as the goal of development. Therefore, according to the Vietnamese leader, all policies must aim at human development.

Second, in the current context, Prime Minister Chinh called for international solidarity, multilateralism and cooperation to bolster global development.

Finally, he affirmed that Vietnam pursues an independent, self-reliant, multilateral and diversified foreign policy, is a good friend and reliable partner of all countries in the world, and is a responsible member of the international community.

Hosted by Switzerland and UNCTAD, the four-day conference is convening ministers of trade and economy, leaders of international organizations, representatives of civil society, the private sector, youth and renowned experts to engage in high-level dialogue on global trends and policy perspectives on trade, finance and debt, investment, development and the digital economy.
