(VOVworld) – Tens of thousands of people attended a festival to celebrate the 225th anniversary of Ngoc Hoi-Dong Da Victory in Dong Da district in Hanoi on Tuesday. The festival honors patriotism and national unity in fighting foreign invaders and commemorates National Hero-King Quang Trung and leaders of the Tay Son movement who defeated the Qing invaders.

After a drum performance to begin the festival, leaders of Hanoi and local organizations burned incense on the ancestral altar. Festival goers watched a performance to revitalize the image of National Hero Quang Trung and the Tay Son movement in 1788-1789.
Mrs. Le Quang Ninh, a pilgrim, said: “We come here every year to pay our gratitude to national hero Quang Trung-Nguyen Hue and his merit to liberate the nation. We come to express our respect to him and attend a national festival.”

The same day in the native district of King Quang Trung, the People’s Committee of Binh Dinh province organized a meeting to mark the 225th anniversary of Ngoc Hoi-Dong Da Victory, which chased away 290,000 Qing invaders to liberate the nation. Chairman of the Binh Dinh provincial People’s Committee, Le Huu Loc said: “We commemorate the Ngoc Hoi-Dong Da victory to revive the Tay Son spirit and honor National Hero Quang Trung-Nguyen Hue. We’ll promote the tradition and take advantage of present opportunities to overcome challenges to further develop our nation.”

The Quang Trung Museum has also organized various activities to mark the event including martial art and gong performances and folk games.
