(VOVworld) – Cornea donors were honored at a ceremony in Ninh Binh province on Saturday. Addressing the event, Vice President Nguyen Thi Doan thanked the donors and their families for giving parts of their bodies to bring health to other people.

She appreciated social and religious organizations and local administrations for launching the cornea donation campaign which promotes the Vietnamese tradition of unity and mutual assistance.
Mrs. Doan suggested the Health Ministry expand the cornea donation campaign nationwide and encourage people to donate other organs such as liver and kidney.

The Ministry of Health gave certificates of merit to the National Institute of Ophthalmology, the People’s Committee of Kim Son district, and people who donated their corneas and their families.
