(VOVWORLD) - A spotted-dove-shaped cake is a typical dish of the Cao Lan ethnic group. It combines the taste of pandan leaves and the sweet aroma of glutinous rice. The cake, called “Gau” (which means spotted-dove or cuckoo) has been handed down by Cao Lan women for generations.

(VOVWORLD) - For the Khmer people, a pagoda is a place, not only for religious activities, but also to teach moral issues and personality. Soc Trang province has 92 pagodas, all of which hold classes to teach the Khmer language.

(VOVWORLD) - "Catch a wife" is a traditional custom of the Mong and some other ethnic groups in Vietnam’s northwest region. The custom of a man pulling a woman to be his wife usually takes place at fairs and festivals. The couples are already in love and preparing to get married. But for many years, the custom was interpreted as "marriage by capture." Ma Thi Di, a 14-year-old Hmong girl in Sapa town, Lao Cai province, courageously resisted the backward custom and would not let others arrange her marriage and steal her life.

(VOVWORLD) - Khmer is one of 54 ethnic groups in Vietnam. The Khmer live in the southern region, mainly in Soc Trang province. They have developed a rich cultural tradition including clothing, art, architecture, music, dance, festivals, and religion.

(VOVWORLD) - Ba Ria-Vung Tau has more than 25,700 people of 38 ethnic groups, including the Hoa, Khmer, Tay, Nung, and Chau Ro. They account for 2.3% of the provincial population and live mainly in Chau Duc and Xuyen Moc district. The local administration has worked to improve their living conditions.

The Ede have preserved the craft and lately have turned it into a steady source of income.

The stove is a place to cook and store food, and is the home of the Kitchen God, who blesses the family and wards off evil spirits. The Tay people worship the Kitchen God and pray to him for good luck, happiness, and sufficiency.

(VOVWORLD) - For ethnic groups in the Central Highlands, elephants are great assets that reflect the power of a family and embody the Elephant God, a symbol of luck and prosperity. Ethnic groups in the Central Highlands still have many elephant-related rituals and customs, including an annual ceremony to pray for elephants’ health.

(VOVWORLD) - Na Hac hamlet borders a 300-ha protected primary forest in Tien Yen district, Quang Ninh province. The 30 local Dao families play a crucial role in protecting the forest.
