Ten years ago they made a living growing rice, raising animals, and exploiting forest products. Then in2015 Binh Lieu started attracting tourists. Visitors were all day-trippers because there were no local accommodations for an overnight stay. But that’s changing as local women have begun developing eco-tourism and cultural tourism to take advantage of the local natural beauty and ethnic culture.
