(VOVWORLD) - To the Khmer people in southern Vietnam, a collection of ancient, rare Buddhist scriptures preserved on palm leaves are a lodestar for educating their children. These manuscripts are considered sacred treasures with profound spiritual value. But these scriptures are now at risk of being lost. Government agencies, religious leaders, and the Khmer community are working to preserve the engraving technique that has been used to create and copy these sacred texts.

(VOVWORLD) - Quang Yen town in Quang Ninh province is home to more than 120 family clans. Every spring these clans hold ancestral commemoration ceremonies to honor their forefathers, particularly Tien Cong, who explored and founded the fertile Ha Nam island, which is now part of Quang Yen.

For the Tay ethnic people in Quang Binh district, Ha Giang province, a wedding is not only a ceremony for a couple to become husband and wife but also an opportunity to showcase their cultural identity through Quan Lang songs. These lyrical melodies, performed by elders, include words of guidance and best wishes for the bride and groom.

(VOVWORLD) - The Pa Then ethnic group in the northern province of Ha Giang has a tradition of celebrating Tet (Lunar New Year) early. Every year at the end of the 12th lunar month, when local people are free from their farming work, the Pa Then begin their Tet festivities with traditional rituals.

(VOVWORLD) -Lao Bao border market takes place every Saturday at the Lao Bao Trade Center in the border area between Vietnam’s Quang Tri province and Laos’ Savanakhet province. People from both countries not only trade goods but also meet, have fun, and exchange cultures.

(VOVWORLD) - Du Ke, referred to by the Khmer community in southern Vietnam as Gian Bau theatre, is an integral part of local life. This 100-year-old art form, which has been recognized as a National Intangible Cultural Heritage, continues to be preserved and cherished by the Khmer.
