Diverse responses of international community over Syria’s crisis

France, Israel and Turkey have shown their determination to support military action against Syria. Saudi Arabia has said it is time for the world to do everything it could to prevent aggression against the Syrian people, and that it would back a US strike on Syria if the Syrian people did. In Europe, some EU member countries including Italy and Greece have warned that they will oppose all military actions against Syria. President Vladimir Putin and German Chancellor Angela Merkel recently held telephone conservation and agreed that the crisis in Syria can be resolved politically. Meanwhile, UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon said that the US and its allies should give time to the UN team investigating the alleged chemical attack near Damascus to determine which side used the deadly weapon. Ban also called on UN Security Council, whose permanent members are divided over Syria, to unite and bring peace to the crisis-hit country.
