(VOVWORLD) - At a discussion session on draft documents at the 14th National Party Congress on Wednesday, Ha Thi Nga, Vice President and Secretary General of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, underscored the pivotal role of great national unity in realizing Vietnam’s development goals.

Ms Nga said that during the past term the Party and the State adopted a number of policies and guidelines that created social consensus, enhanced public trust in the Party and the State, and built a solid foundation for harnessing the strength of great national unity.
As Vietnam enters a new era of development, promoting the strength of great national unity has become a factor of strategic importance and a vital driving force for overcoming challenges, seizing opportunities, and achieving sustainable development.
Ms Nga said: "The Vietnam Fatherland Front must promote its role as a voluntary union of political organizations, social organizations, and exemplary individuals of all social strata, ethnic groups, religions, and overseas Vietnamese communities. The VFF and its member organizations will continue to carry out strong and comprehensive reforms in their activities, methods, and mechanisms, placing people’s livelihoods, democracy, and civic rights at the center of their work."
Ms. Nga also noted that the VFF will expand people-to-people diplomacy to spread the spirit of solidarity and promote the image of Vietnam and its people, thereby contributing to a peaceful environment conducive to cooperation and sustainable development. At the same time, efforts will be intensified to promote democracy and the people’s right to mastery, strengthen mechanisms for direct dialogue, and organize an annual “Month of Listening to the People.”
The VFF will apply technology and digital transformation to expand connectivity, enabling the reception and timely response to public opinions and aspirations on a 24/7 basis through a digital Fatherland Front platform.
