Vietnamese, Cuban Party leaders hold phone talks

(VOVWORLD) - Party leaders of Vietnam and Cuba have reaffirmed the importance of the two countries' exemplary friendship and solidarity during a phone call between General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam To Lam and First Secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba Central Committee and President of Cuba Miguel Díaz-Canel on Monday.

On behalf of the Party and people of Vietnam, General Secretary Lam expressed sincere thanks to First Secretary and President Miguel Díaz-Canel and Party and State leaders of Cuba for their close attention to the CPV’s major political event, as well as for their warm and heartfelt congratulations extended to the Party and people of Vietnam.
Mr. Lam informed Mr. Miguel Díaz-Canel that the 14th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam affirms that diplomacy and international integration in association with defence and security remain key and regular tasks, while consistently pursuing an independent, self-reliant foreign policy of peace, friendship, cooperation and development.

Mr. To Lam reaffirmed that Vietnam attaches great importance to its special and exemplary friendship with Cuba, and is ready to do everything possible to further consolidate traditional solidarity and enhance bilateral cooperation for the benefit of the two peoples and for peace and development in each region and the world. Vietnam is also willing to share experience with Cuba in its renewal process and socialist construction.

Mr. Diaz-Canel also reiterated that the Party, State and people of Cuba give top priority to relations with Vietnam and are determined to further deepen comprehensive cooperation, building on the valuable legacy and close solidarity between the two countries’ peoples.
