At the talks held in New Delhi on Tuesday, both sides agreed on the need to resolve related issues through friendly consultation and establish a joint expert group on border demarcation to advance negotiations in areas with favorable conditions.
In addition to the current commander-level talks in the western side of the Line of Actual Control (LAC), the two countries agreed to set up a commander-level negotiation mechanism in the eastern and central areas. A new round of commander-level talks in the western side would be held as soon as possible.
India and China agreed to promote the role of existing border management and control mechanisms through diplomatic and military channels, first reaching consensus on relevant principles and methods to de-escalate tension and stabilize the situation. They also agreed to reopen three traditional border trade markets and to hold the 25th round of negotiations in China in 2026.
