The campaign aims to decisively prevent and ultimately eliminate IUU fishing violations, while also strengthening coordination in preparation for the fifth inspection visit by the European Commission (EC) to Vietnam.

Reports at the conference highlighted that the Vietnam Coast Guard has played a core role in leading and closely coordinating with relevant forces and local coastal authorities in combating IUU fishing, while ensuring thorough preparations for the EC inspection.

At the meeting, Major General Le Dinh Cuong, Commander of the Vietnam Coast Guard, pointed out existing shortcomings that require urgent and comprehensive resolution.

He called for continued, coordinated, and decisive implementation of anti-IUU measures; strict maintenance of forces and equipment; enhanced patrols, inspections, and control; tighter management of maritime areas; and stronger coordination with relevant forces, agencies, and local authorities.

He also stressed the need to intensify supervision of on-site enforcement and to ensure thorough preparation for the ECs sixth inspection visit to Vietnam.
