At the ongoing meeting of the National Assembly on Thursday, the Prime Minister presented a supplementary report reviewing the implementation of the socio-economic development plan and State budget for 2025, and performance in the early months of this year.

The macroeconomy remained fundamentally stable, with key economic balances ensured. Vietnam’s economy reached 514 billion USD, ranking 32nd globally. Foreign direct investment hit a record 27.6 billion USD, while the trade surplus surpassed 20 billion USD.

Prime Minister Hung outlined key tasks and solutions for the remaining months of the year, underlining the need to unify thinking, awareness, aspirations, and actions to achieve double-digit economic growth, while maintaining macroeconomic stability.

“It is essential to mobilize and effectively utilize all resources for development, and to ensure major economic balances to stabilize the macroeconomy. We will closely monitor domestic and international developments to improve forecasting and deliver flexible, timely policy responses. We are determined not to allow macroeconomic instability or any form of economic crisis under any circumstances,” said the PM.

“Public investment must take the lead in driving total social investment. We will promote exports, diversify markets, products, and supply chains, while making full use of traditional markets. At the same time, we will accelerate the restructuring of industries and sectors, and develop new economic components and models. We aim to welcome 25 million international visitors this year,” said Mr. Hung.

Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Van Thang, presented a proposal for the five-year socio-economic development plan through 2030. The plan emphasizes rapid and sustainable growth, targeting GDP expansion of 10% or more in 2026 and maintaining this momentum over the five-year period, alongside macroeconomic stability. GDP per capita is projected to reach 8,500 USD by 2030, representing a 1.7-fold increase compared to last year.

On the same day, National Assembly deputies held group discussions on socio-economic issues, including the five-year development plan to 2030. Lawmakers also deliberated on several draft laws, including amendments and supplements to the Law on Legal Aid and the revised Law on Access to Information.
