Iran's parliament speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf said on X that the two measures had been previously agreed with the US and warned that negotiations would not start until they are fulfilled. He stressed that time is running out and that the talks would only proceed if the United States accepts Iran’s preconditions.
Representatives from the US and Iran are expected to begin ceasefire negotiations in Pakistan on Saturday. Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif confirmed on Friday that leaders from both countries would take part in the process.
Earlier, in the announcement of the ceasefire between the US and Iran released on April 8, Prime Minister Sharif stated that the halt in hostilities would also apply to Lebanon. However, officials from Israel and the United States issued opposing statements.
Israel launched a series of airstrikes across Lebanon on Wednesday, resulting in a total of 357 deaths and more than 1,000 injuries, which shocked many countries and international organizations.
