Peskov was speaking to the press in response to Ukrainian President Volidymyr Zelenskyi’s suggestions that if ceasefire talks take place, Ukraine is ready to swap parts of western Russia it controls for Russian-occupied land in Ukraine.
Russia has never discussed and will never discuss territorial exchanges, Peskov said, adding that Ukrainian troops will be expelled from the Kursk region.
The same day, Ukrainian Minister of Defense Rustem Umerov said Kyiv is ready for negotiations to end the conflict at a meeting of the Ukraine Defense Contact Group in Brussels. But a fair and lasting peace is only possible when the country is strong on the battlefield, Umerov added.
