At a working session on Thursday with the An Giang provincial Party Committee on the province’s performance over the past 10 months and its implementation of key breakthrough resolutions of the Party Central Committee, the Party General Secretary highlighted significant development opportunities for An Giang in the near-future, especially following administrative restructuring and the expansion of its maritime and border economic space. However, he noted that the province will also face challenges in infrastructure, the environment, and social security.

He urged An Giang to promote unity and discipline as a foundation for development, strengthen national defense, security, and external relations, and ensure a stable environment. He also called on the province to promote science-technology, innovation, and digital transformation through concrete programs and projects.

With a development space that includes plains, forests, and a maritime area, the Party General Secretary stressed that An Giang needs to restructure its economy toward modernization and aim for double-digit growth.

The Party leader said: “The province needs to strongly develop the maritime economy, tourism, and modern services; promote innovation; and position the Phu Quoc special zone as a breakthrough growth pole. It’s important to accelerate the completion of strategic infrastructure and expand development space. An Giang must align with regional and national planning and focus investment on transport corridors connecting upstream areas with coastal and island localities, Ho Chi Minh City, Can Tho, Ca Mau, Cambodia, and international maritime routes. Priority should be given to seaports, fishing ports, marinas, Phu Quoc International Airport, and logistics centers.”
