Since then, Vi Xuyen, one of the fiercest battlefields, has made remarkable progress, from a poor locality to a strong border district, contributing to the development of Ha Giang province and the whole country.

In 2024, Vi Xuyen district's economy maintained good growth. Its poverty rate decreased 6.43% and the average income per capita rose to 1,370 USD per year. The district has focused commodity-oriented agricultural development, especially specialty crops, such as Shan Tuyet tea, cardamom, and high-quality rice.

Vi Xuyen has maintained a regular and friendly cooperative relationship with Malipo county of China’s Yunnan province. Both localities have conducted exchanges and cooperated in crime prevention and control, protecting national border sovereignty and creating a stable environment for economic development.
