The Ministry of Science and Technology told a press conference on Monday about the basic contents of five laws it drafted and were passed at the 9th session of the 15th National Assembly.
They are the Law on Science, Technology and Innovation; the Law on the Digital Technology Industry; the draft revised Law on Product and Goods Quality; the draft revised Law on Standards and Technical Regulations; and draft revised law on Atomic Energy.
The Law on Science, Technology and Innovation, which till take effect on October 1, 2025, reflects a fundamental shift in development thinking, said Nguyen Phu Hung, Director of the Department of Science, Engineering and Technology, of the Ministry of Science and Technology.
“The Law on Science, Technology and Innovation affirms these areas as core sectors and drivers of socio-economic development, national defense and security, and improving people’s lives. For the first time, the Law elevates innovation to the same level as science and technology. Science and technology generate knowledge through the work of researchers and scientists, while innovation involves the entire population in turning that knowledge into practical value. This is a significant new point of this Law.”
