The 105th Asian Athletics Council Meeting opened in Hanoi on Monday, marking the first time that Vietnam hosted the event. In his opening speech, Dahlan Jumaan Al Hamad, President of the Asian Athletics Association said that the AAA’s member states would hold discussions to make decisions towards a new chapter for Asian athletics. Many decisions will focus on developing continental athletics and supporting one another in areas such as training and coaching quality, he said.

Nguyen Danh Hoang Viet, Director of the Department of Physical Training and Sports expressed hope that the meeting would provide delegates with a platform to exchange insights, share practical experiences, and formulate strategic directions to strengthen Asian athletics and elevate its position on the international stage.
Mr. Viet affirmed that Vietnam is always ready to expand cooperation with countries around the world and to accompany Asian athletics in training projects and building a fair, transparent, and doping-free competition environment that aligns with the core values of global sports.
Mr. Dahlan Jumaan Al Hamad praised the strong development of athletics in Vietnam, particularly its achievements at regional and continental competitions in recent years. He also expressed high expectations that Vietnamese athletics will continue to build on these successes to affirm its firm position at larger international arenas.
